Lake Albano is a volcanic crater lake in the Alban Hills of Lazio, near Monte Cavo, about 20 km (13 miles) south-east of Rome. Marino is one of the towns which make up the Castelli Romani, 16 communes situated nearby in the hills. The buildings faintly indicated in the distance are the monastery of Palazzola.
