Description
Landscape with two women beside a stream in the foreground, one kneeling to fill a vessel. There is antique masonry and a large boulder to their right and a waterfall and prominent antique buildings on a densely forested slope behind.

Robert Brandard (1805-1862) was a landscape engraver, etcher, lithographer, miniature painter and watercolourist. Brother of Edward and John Brandard, he left Birmingham to study with Edward Goodall in London and is primarily known for his metal engraved plates in Turner's Picturesque Views in England and Wales. He occasionally exhibited watercolours at the Royal Academy, British Institution, Suffolk Street Gallery and New Watercolour Society.
