Biographical Details
William Hookham Carpenter was an etcher who was briefly in business as a print publisher around 1821. He later became Keeper of Prints & Drawings at the British Museum (1845-66). He collected Old Master paintings, drawings and prints, including the Wilson drawing D252/1 At a River's Mouth , which in 1864 he donated to the British Museum.
