Biographical Details
A prominent Liverpool businessman, philanthropist and collector, David Jardine succeeded the 1st Lord Inverclyde as Chairman of the Cunard Shipping Line. He was uncle of Lawrence MacLaren, who assumed the management of the family's extensive timber importing and brokering firm on his death in 1917. His collection of 72 paintings and 67 drawings was sold at Christie's on 16 March 1917.
