Sir Hickman Bacon 11/12th Baronet, assembled a celebrated collection of watercolours at Thonock Hall, Gainsborough, Lincolnshire. He was High Sheriff of the county in 1887, a Justice of the Peace and Deputy Lieutenant. Sir Hickman owned a number of paintings by or attributed to Wilson, including P182 View of the Wilderness in St. James's Park, Yale Center for British Art. The Exhibition of Works by Richard Wilson, R.A. at the Ferens Art Gallery, Hull, Nov-Dec 1936, was based predominantly on his collection (11 works) and that of Arthur Morrison (20 works).
