The town of Chioggia is situated on a small island at the southern entrance to the Lagoon of Venice about 25 kilometres (16 miles) south of Venice. Wilson visited it on his journey from Venice to Rome in 1751.
This drawing represents the same subject as D23A A House at Chioggia, Private Collection, England. The present work however is less detailed.
