Lake and Figures
c.1754-56 (undated)
Black chalk and stump, touched with white, on grey-green paper
195 x 248 mm
7 5/8 x 9 3/4 in.
A man with a long stick, probably intended as a fisherman, moves in the foreground towards three figures seated on the bank of a lake or river near two pine trees. Beyond to the left two other figures are seen in a boat and on the further shore is a towered building on the top of a hill.
Donated by John Deffett Francis, 1881
Unsigned, no inscription
Verso invisible - paper laid down
The style of this composition makes it in the compiler's view less than certainly by Wilson and possibly by a pupil
