Description
Landscape with two figures conversing with a monk on the shore of a lake in the foreground beside an open antique coffin. A third man is seen pulling a net out of the water to the left. There is a fishing boat beyond, with ruins in the centre across the water, a castle on the hill in the background and a tree framing the scene on the left.

Critical commentary
Perhaps an abandoned trial impression of a first idea. Unlike E16 the composition is in the same orientation as P122 and the other painted versions.

Unfinished, e.g. the face of the monk in the centre. Flattened vertical fold about 2 3/4 in. from the right. Needs surface clean.
