Description
Part of a Memorandum Book used about 1771-1775. Brown leather cover and 36 leaves remaining; four others have been almost entirely torn out. 21 pages have slight pencil sketches by Wilson, mostly of landscapes or buildings. A few are blank, the rest have rough manuscript notes, mainly of accounts.

Critical commentary
William Farington was probably the nephew of Richard Farington, brother of Joseph Farington, to whom the Farington papers descended. As W.G. Constable observed, his reference to 'the above memorandum' is presumably to the first two lines of the inscription. The writing in the book itself is in Wilson's hand, though it is possible that some of the sketches may be by Farington.
