Critical commentary
Seemingly a study from the life incorporated into Wilson's paintings of the same subject from a distance, notably P45 The Temple of the Sibyl and the Campagna, National Gallery of Ireland, Dublin and versions. Possibly left incomplete by Wilson and some details filled in hurriedly later, for example the trees on the right.
