Description
Landscape with Diana expelling Callisto, having learned that she is pregnant. On the bank in the foreground, there are two other nymphs comforting her. Trees can be seen at either side and there is a town on the mountainside across the water in the background.

Louis Marvy (1815-1850; sometimes mis-spelt as 'Maruy') was a French painter and engraver, specialising in etching, drypoint and soft-ground etchings of ruins, views and landscapes. He exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1842, worked for the French periodical, L'Artiste and also as intermediary draughtsman on some wood-engravings.
