Critical commentary
On the evidence of the subject, drawing style and support D26 is likely to have been executed during Wilson's time in Venice (1750-51)
Condition/Conservation
Good condition overall. The present drawing is adhered to the back of a fainter three-quarter profile of a man in black chalk on a separate sheet (D26/2, q.v.). To the lower left of that is a faint inverted profile study of a man's nose and chin. This sheet, hitherto unpublished, is also in good condition.
