Description
To the left is the east end of the south front of Wilton, designed by Inigo Jones after the fire of 1637 and completed in 1654. In the distance are indications of the loggia and the spires of Salisbury Cathedral.

Critical commentary
This drawing is the verso of D350/1
Study for Wilton House: Temple Copse and Stables
. It, too, is evidently an aide-memoire, taken hastily on the spot, and was eventually worked up into P77. Here the artist's main concern is perspective, which may explain the exaggerated foreshortening of the buildings in the painting.

Condition/Conservation
Quite good condition but some discolouration at corners. There is fading upper left and upper right from old hinges. In the centre between the trees is a black ink mark.
