Although based on P153 or a version this print contains fewer figures, and notably omits the man with the telescope from the middle left foreground.
More Information
George Cooke of 2 Clarence Place, Pentonville, trained under James Basire and went on to acquire a considerable reputation as an engraver and wood-engraver. His later work included 15 plates for Turner's
Picturesque Views of the Southern Coast of England
(1814-26) and
Views of London and its Vicinity
, which he published in parts from 1826-34.
