Description
Part of a Memorandum Book used about 1771-1775. Brown leather cover and 36 leaves remaining; four others have been almost entirely torn out. 21 pages have slight pencil sketches by Wilson, mostly of landscapes or buildings. A few are blank, the rest have rough manuscript notes, mainly of accounts.

J. White and L. Baker were probably tradesmen but W.G. Constable records a version of P122 Lake Avernus - I in the London art market in 1953 as having a label verso reading: 'A picture of Wilson purchased by my father of Mr. Collins of New Cavendish Street who had it from a Mrs Moria, Lord Pembroke's sister John White 1820.' (WGC, p. 194, pl. 69a recorded version 3).

14v: Small horizontal tear upper left edge.
