Description
The left page depicts what appears to be a picnic taking place under trees near water. On the right page a girl in peasant costume reclines on a bed or bench in what is probably a grotto.

Critical commentary
13(v): Clements noted that the inscription '24.4.P' might refer to a day that Wilson spent with Lords Thanet, Pembroke, Essex and Bolingbroke in April 1754, sketching at the Villa of Maecenas, Tivoli. For another drawing of a bed see D280/8.
