Critical commentary
Mary Anne Turner (1803-1874), was an artist and printmaker. She was a daughter of Dawson Turner (1775–1858), the Yarmouth banker, botanist and antiquary, in whose collection was the original painting by Wilson. A watercolour by her of the same subject is no. 48 in a privately-owned album of copies by members of Turner's family after works in his collection. The present print was an illustration for his publication, Outlines in Lithography (1840), where an impression appears opposite p. 91.
