Edward Pryce Lloyd of Pengwern, between Rhuddlan and St Asaph, owned estates in Flintshire, Denbighshire and Caernarvonshire. He was much admired by his contemporaries for planting 442,000 trees, mostly oaks, on them. In 1778 he was created a baronet - a title later inherited by his eponymous nephew, who later became 1st Baron Mostyn.
