    Dr John Percy FRS (1847), FGS (1851) was a metallurgist and amateur artist who collected watercolours, drawings and prints. He particularly concentrated on the British School and his collection included the following drawings by or ascribed to Wilson:
    D72 Study of Foliage, National Gallery of Scotland, Edinburgh;
    D198 The Piazza del Populo, Rome, The Courtauld Gallery, London;
    D199 Ascribed to Wilson, Italian Landscape, The Courtauld Gallery, London;
    D200 View of Rome with the Basilica of Constantine, The Courtauld Gallery, London;
    D374A Dinas Bran and Llangollen, National Museum Wales, Cardiff.

    Percy was the author of the classic four-volume A Treatise on Metallurgy. He lived in Bayswater, London, first at Craven Hill then at Gloucester Crescent, and was a member of the Athenaeum and Garrick Clubs. His sales of drawings were held at Christie's on the 15-18 and 22-24 April 1890 and of prints at Sotheby's 12-13 May 1890. His collection of metallurgical specimens passed to the South Kensington Museum.
