    Biographical Details
    Sir Edward Howard Marsh was a civil servant, scholar and patron of the arts, who owned P153 Llyn Cau, Cader Idris, Tate, London as well as a large collection of drawings by Wilson. He was Private Secretary to a number of government ministers. including Sir Winston Churchill, whom he served for 23 years from 1905. Not only did he collect British paintings and works on paper of the 18th and 19th centuries but he also formed one of the most important contemporary collections of modern British art, including such artists as Gaudier-Brzeska, Stanley Spencer, John and Paul Nash, Christopher Nevinson and Duncan Grant. He also served as a Trustee of the Tate Gallery.
