    More Information
Vol. 123, no. 940, pp. 410-14, pls 23-27. Using newly discovered evidence, the article confirms Wilson's affirmation that he 'admired Gaspard for composition and sentiment.' It demonstrates that, at intervals spanning more than a decade, Wilson executed four different pictures which all derive specifically from a single prototype by Gaspard Dughet: Ideal Landscape, c. 1658-60, Glasgow Museums Resource Centre (Accession no. 596). These are P120 Dolbadarn Castle and Llyn Peris; P124 Lake Avernus - III (here entitled Lake Nemi); P127 The Lake of Nemi or Speculum Dianae with Dolbadarn Castle (here entitled Diana and Callisto with Dolbadarn Castle); P127A The Lake of Nemi or Speculum Dianae.
